We stumbled upon a great little park the other day. It is called Ich Ha Lol Xaan fue or Eye (or Flower) if the River.
It is a 1000 acre regional park where a meandering river winds its way through a rain forest, opening up in a couple of spots for family friendly swimming holes. The swimming holes were beautiful little oases of blue. We got caught in a passing rain shower, which made everything all the prettier.
Noah jumped off the bank into our arms a bunch of times and Aviva pretty much hated it, as she hates anything involving water.
There were also a nice walking path through the jungle along a larger, alligator-inhabited river. (Alas or luckily we did not see any of the creatures.) A local family gave Noah a lollipop and with that thing in his mouth he got a slightly too content look and would have kept walking all day.
One of the things we keep noticing about Campeche, is how quiet and far off it is from the tourist track. There were some local families at the park, but no foreigners.
