We had Shabbat with the chabad house and then we let Hanukkah candles on the Malecón the next day. There was a lot of singing and revelry. I will write about broccoli below.

Broccoli story: We had Shabbat dinner with the Chabadniks and there was a huge feast. Two kinds of salads and fish and noodles and breads and lots of things. It was late - way past 8:00. Noah had to pee but didn't want to pee in a new place. We made a deal: He would pee in their bathroom and then we'd get dessert, before we left. He agreed and he peed. Plates were being cleared and new plates were being put out. He was totally ready and excited for dessert. Someone brought a bowl from the kitchen and put it on the table, kind of in front of Noah. What was in the bowl? Broccoli. Broccoli?????? Yes, broccoli. Noah was devastated but we started laughing about it. Broccoli for dessert? What in the world?! Well, it turns out chicken was also put out and other main dishes; we had just had the first course. We still had to leave but Noah wanted dessert. So he went to the main rabbi and told him he had a secret for him, and whispered in his ear that he had to go home but he wanted dessert. So they brought out some sufganyot (channukah donuts)for us to take home. That was very very nice. Amd we still laugh about how they brought out broccoli for dessert, and how silly that was.
